Product Introduction

GHK-Cu (Blue Copper Peptide) is undoubtedly a "gentle yet powerful" repair agent in the skincare world. Simply put, it's a natural complex composed of three amino acids (glycine, histidine, and lysine) and a copper ion. It naturally exists in our blood plasma and saliva, acting as a "repair signal" released by the body when injured.

Its main functions are comprehensive, but its core physical and biochemical mechanisms boil down to two points:
First, "precise delivery." Copper ions are crucial for skin repair, but free copper ions have difficulty penetrating the skin, and high concentrations can be toxic. GHK-Cu cleverly utilizes tripeptides as "carriers" to safely deliver copper ions into cells, activating key enzymes responsible for synthesizing collagen and elastin.

Second, "gene-level regulation." It goes beyond surface moisturizing; it acts as a signaling molecule, upregulating the expression of genes that promote wound healing and antioxidant activity, while inhibiting genes that cause inflammation and collagen damage. This explains why it achieves both anti-aging and anti-inflammatory effects.

Storage Conditions

Freeze-dried powder: Sealed, dry, and protected from light. It can be stored for 24 months at 2–8℃, or longer at -20℃ with nitrogen purging. Short-term storage at room temperature in a dark place is also acceptable, but avoid placing it on a balcony or in a medicine cabinet exposed to heat.

Preparing aqueous solutions: Must use sterile water/physiological water (pH 5.5–7.0). Refrigerate at 2–8℃ and use within 7–14 days. Do not freeze (freeze-thaw cycles damage coordination structures). Do not store at room temperature for extended periods.

A light blue to royal blue color is normal. Yellowish-brown or dark green indicates copper ion redox imbalance and inactivation; discard immediately.

Contraindicated in three situations: strong acids (copper will dissociate at pH < 4), strong light, and high temperatures (> 60℃, degeneration occurs within two weeks). Do not store in the same container as EDTA, pure vitamin C, fruit acids (10% or higher), or high-concentration alcohol.

Precautions and Personal Opinions

Topical skincare products are part of the cosmetics route, and the safety profile is generally good. However, do not buy injectable GHK-Cu for subcutaneous injection-the FDA is very strict about injectable compound products, and there is insufficient systematic human data. Those with Wilson's disease, abnormal copper metabolism, or who are pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid them.

For first-time use, test a small patch behind the ear or on the cheek for 24–48 hours. A very small number of individuals may experience redness and itching due to copper ion sensitivity.

Do not combine this product with retinol, fruit acids, or pure vitamin C in the same step. Stagger the application time (e.g., vitamin C in the morning, copper peptide in the evening, or alternate every other day). Otherwise, it's a matter of life or death; the copper peptide will be ineffective first.

A concentration of 0.01%–1% is effective, 0.1%–0.5% is the golden range for topical application, and concentrations above 2% may cause irritation and redness. Bluer is not necessarily better.

My opinion remains the same as before: it's an ingredient for "building a healthy foundation," not a powerful drug for a 28-day skin transformation. For those experiencing post-cosmetic surgery redness, seasonal skin irritation, or retinol intolerance, this is the most cost-effective option. However, expecting it to fill in deep nasolabial folds is unrealistic; without adequate sun protection, sleep, and protein supplementation, even applying gold won't salvage a sloping complexion. When buying a finished product, choose a dark-colored bottle, avoid overly long ingredient lists, and refrigerate after opening. This is much easier than buying a pre-mixed powder and mixing your own – mixing your own powder can result in poor pH levels, and copper dissociation can turn the product into a bottle of blue wastewater.
