Product Introduction

GHRP-2 (Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide-2) is a synthetic hexapeptide compound (CAS No.: 158861-67-7). As a potent agonist of the growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R1a), it acts directly on growth hormone cells in the anterior pituitary gland, stimulating a pulsatile release of endogenous growth hormone (GH). Its secretory-stimulating efficacy is significantly superior to similar early peptides.

 

Targeting GHS-R1a (ghrelin receptor), it fires at both the pituitary gland and arcuate nucleus: Gq/11 → PLC → IP3/DAG → intracellular calcium surge → efflux of growth hormone granules. Simultaneously, it relaxes somatostatin tension and stimulates endogenous GHRH release. Its use with GHRH derivatives is additive, not competitive. The pulsatile effect of a unit dose of GH is stronger than that of GHRP-6, and its appetite disturbance is less than that of GHRP-6. However, high doses can trigger ACTH, cortisol, and prolactin release. Its selectivity is between that of GHRP-6 and Ipamorelin. In 2004, the Japanese PMDA approved it as a diagnostic injection for GH deficiency in adults/children (GHRP Kaken, 100 μg IV single dose), but it was not included in the treatment pathway in the West.

 

Experimental applications: animal reference for pituitary GH reserve stimulation experiments, GH pulse dynamics and GHRH synergistic modeling, somatotroph dose-response calibration, lean body mass and nitrogen retention in starvation/disuse wasting and muscle atrophy models, and IGF-1 axis refilling under chronic disease consumption conditions. It is not used for long-acting formulation studies. With a half-life of 15–30 minutes, continuous administration can easily lead to desensitization. In mechanistic experiments, it is often administered intermittently or used in combination with CJC-1295 (a DAC-free formulation).

 

Store the lyophilized powder sealed with a desiccant at -20°C (frost-free refrigerator, do not use an automatic defrost compartment) for 24–36 months. For short-term storage, do not exceed one month at 2–8°C. Protect from light and moisture, as the peptide bonds in the powder hydrolyze irreversibly after absorbing moisture. Reconstitute by pushing sterile/antibacterial water along the wall of the container. Do not directly pour onto the frozen cake or vortex. Gently swirl until clear and colorless. This may include 0.1% BSA for anti-adsorption. 5 mg plus 2 mL of antibacterial water yields 2.5 mg/mL. Store the reconstituted solution at 2–8°C protected from light. Use the antibacterial water solution within 28 days, and the sterile water solution within 24–48 hours. Use low-adsorption tubes for dilute working solutions (<100 μg/mL). For storage across months, aliquot into single-use containers and freeze at -20°C. Do not repeatedly freeze and thaw the reconstituted solution. D-2-Nal residues are susceptible to photo-oxidation; avoid strong light during handling.
